Phobias

 

As a hypnotherapist I see many people with different phobias wanting to be released from them forever. I get really excited when I see how dramatic the change can be for them.

 

Phobias can range from:

 

  • Social Phobias: fear of social situations.

 

  • Arachnophobia: fear of spiders.

 

  • Ophidiophobia: fear of snakes.

 

  • Acrophobia: fear of heights.

 

  • Pteromerhanophobia: fear of flying.

 

  • Agoraphobia : fear of situations in which escape is difficult.

 

  • Cynophobia: fear of dogs.

 

  • Astraphobia: fear of thunder and lightening.

 

  • Trypanophobia: fear of injections. 

 

  • Mysophobia: fear of germs or dirt.

 

 

 

This for me is a perfect example of what a phobia is, how hypnosis and NLP can be used in combination as a powerful tool. The other day I had a client who was petrified of not just spiders, but anything that looked like spiders. Even objects that were around her home that reminded her of spiders would cause her to panic and run away. She came into my office and I noticed immediately her whole demeanor changed. As she sat before me she was so tense, and I listened to her telling me about how she is around spiders. It was consuming her. She was not even able to watch anything on TV that had insects on it.

 

I started talking to her and within the first ten minutes of the session she found herself saying that spiders were cute. She looked at me and with a puzzled look on her face she asked: "what did you just do? I can't believe I just said that!"I use language (NLP) from the time that a person walks through my door and through interpreting that person's story and asking them to think of something from another point of view can really help them to shift strong emotional patterns.

 

Shortly after meeting this woman I met her husband to discuss his fear of public speaking. I spoke to him for a while and he told me that she had come home and found a spider in the house that night and calmly got a jar and a piece of paper and had saved the spider and took it into the garden and set it free. He could not believe his eyes. This was a lady that could not even cross a room if she saw a spider in the past.When I see this huge shift in people I feel so happy because I know that they will be able to relax more.
